Maurice is married to Rachel Rigsby, a history teacher at Little Rock Central High. They live in Little Rock with their three children where they attend Bullock Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Originally from Rosston, Arkansas, Maurice attended Nevada County High School and is a 1996 graduate of Philander Smith College with a degree in Political Science. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Leflar School of Law and was admitted to practice law in Arkansas and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas in 2003.
Maurice started his legal career as an associate attorney in Pine Bluff and has served as a staff attorney for the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research and Deputy Director/Regulatory Counsel for the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission. His primary areas of practice are Contract and Commercial Litigation, Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities Law, Administrative and Regulatory Law, Property Law, Criminal Law and all aspects of Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Visitation/Support, Paternity and Guardianships).
